- Reports to Finance Manager
- Located at Eden Prairie City Center (8080 Mitchell Road Eden Prairie, MN 55344)
- Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for 20 hours a week onsite. This is a regular part-time position of 20 hours per week with a consistent schedule. The preferred schedule is five days per week, though a four day work week may be considered. Hours may vary based on business need.
The Accountant supports the Finance division, City employees and the public by ensuring the reporting of timely and accurate financial information. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
- Assists with the oversight of day-to-day operations in the Finance division.
- Oversees the accounting functions of various fiscal agents.
- Performs monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
- Completes State and Federal filings on a monthly/quarterly/yearly basis.
- Reviews and records electronic fund transactions in the accounting system.
- Coordinates, compiles and analyzes periodic financial statements and reports for the City and its departments using complex spreadsheets and database applications. Partners with and assists City departments in preparing and analyzing financial data.
- Assists with review and preparation of annual budget work papers.
- Assists with the annual audit and compiling of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
- Utilizes BS&A financial system to process information or prepare reports relating to G/L, A/P, A/R.
- Assists Finance Manager and Finance Supervisor with special projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance field is required.
- A minimum of two years of accounting experience is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
- Experience with financial software is required.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)regulations is preferred.
- Experience with municipal government within a Financial setting preferred.
- Physical efforts are strictly an office environment. The office environment includes some minor lifting, walking, operating office equipment, presentation equipment, and extended use of a keyboard. Most office work involves extensive use of computers and occasional travel to meetings or errands outside the office.
