What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Laborer position at City of Ecorse?
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Department of Public Works Supervisor, seasonal laborers are responsible for various maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, and general labor functions involving City properties. Performs all work in accordance with the essential functions and responsibilities described below.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Cut grass and trim lawns at all City facilities
2. Removes unwanted weeds
3. Picks up trash and empty trash receptacles
4. Sweeps curbs, walks and parking lots
5. Must be able to use equipment such as walking and riding mowers, push mowers, chain saws and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools
6. Perform all other assigned tasks as requested by Supervisor
7. Attendance is a very essential function
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license with a good driving record
- Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to work mainly outdoors in varying temperatures and inclement weather
- Must be able to exert and lift 20 to 50 pounds
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma/GED required
- 2 years of ground keeping/maintenance experience preferred
EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: Temporary seasonal position for a period not to exceed eighty-nine (89) days, based on operational needs.
