What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Coordinator position at City of East Point?
The purpose of this job is to plan, coordinate, and manage athletic programs. As well as manage the athletic facilities, finances, budgets and requisition of goods and services. This position is also required to supervise a staff consisting of two recreation leaders (long-term, temporary, full-time, 40 hours/week), and 40-50 volunteers.

Uses knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to effectively manage administrative duties
Drafts and prepares letters, memos, forms, and other documents
Collects and accounts for program related revenue
Makes bank deposits
Activenet System Administrator for the entire department of Parks and Recreation
Schedules appointments and meetings
Approves facility rentals and special athletic events
Prepares roster reports
Facility maintenance checklists
Prepares finance reports
Inventory management
Develops athletics operational procedures
Plans and coordinates programs operated in conjunction with other agencies (GRPA, MAYFYL, NYSCA, USTA, Hershey’s Track & Field, etc.)
Schedules special training and athletic events
Completes work orders, incident reports, letters and correspondence
Plans and implements training for staff, volunteer coaches, and officials regarding proper and effective implementation of departmental policies and procedures
Prepares monthly reports to present to Director of Parks & Recreation
Purchasing of equipment, trophies, and uniforms
Attends meetings, seminars and training session as required to remain knowledgeable of departmental operations, to promote improved job performance and to stay current with changing state/municipal policies, codes, and laws
Assigning participants to proper team
Prepares games schedules
Ensures that participants are in a safe environment by coordinating the necessary security/police for events
Promotes safety and good sportsmanship
Oversees volunteers and coaches
Makes decision on playing conditions during inclement weather
Facilitates NYSCA (National Youth Sports Coaches Association) certification for all coachesEnsures that all volunteers and coaches complete volunteer application and background checks
Ensures that all coaches are CPR & First Aid certified

Physical Demands: The work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Much of the work is physical in nature, including participation in sporting events and games. The employee may be required to run, walk, jump and lift heavy objects including sports equipment.
