What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Associate - E.L. Hannah Community Center position at City of East Lansing?
The Customer Service Associate, under the direct supervision of the Guest Services/Account Coordinator, is an integral team member contributing to the efficient and effective delivery of services to our community. Customer Service Associate responsibilities include:
- answering and transferring phone calls
- greeting guests
- assisting guests with class registration both in person and via telephone
- collecting childcare and facility reservation payments
- assisting with fitness pass sales and management.
The Customer Service Associate must provide strong ability with cash handling and reporting, exhibit good judgement and strong ability to multitask.
The Customer Service Associate will also assist with facility tours for potential rental reservation requestors and assist with facility reservations and special events as needed. The candidate should exemplify the outstanding quality of service provided to the East Lansing Hannah Community Center Guests.

Qualifications
Equivalent to a High School diploma, supplemented by specialized training in customer service or communications desirable, with one to two years’ experience dealing directly with the public. Ability to operate a variety of office and computer equipment.
Ability to be resourceful, alert and capable of exercising initiative and good judgment while working cohesively with others.
Must be able to pass a State of Michigan criminal history background check.
Special Requirements
Additionally, to perform the essential functions of the job, an individual may be required to maintain a physical condition necessary for sitting for long periods of time; general manual dexterity, adequate vision, hearing and speech required.
Job Details
15 hours a week. Work schedule varies with afternoons, evenings, weekends.
