The City of Dickinson is seeking a GIS Technician to support our expanding Geographic Information System (GIS) and help ensure accurate, accessible mapping data for our employees, contractors, and the public. - Maintain and update GIS data using ArcGIS Desktop/Pro and an enterprise MS SQL geodatabase
- Publish and distribute GIS information through web maps/apps, printed maps, PDFs, and file transfers
- Gather information from employees, departments, contractors, and project documents to ensure GIS data stays current
- Collect high-accuracy field data using GPS with real-time correction
- Analyze geospatial data and produce reports to support city decision-making
- Perform routine QA/QC to ensure accuracy and data integrity
- Stay current with new GIS tools, technologies, and best practices through training and development
- Support Engineering Technicians in the field when needed
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (Associate degree in GIS, Geography, IT, or a related field preferred)
- Experience: 1–3 years of GIS or IT experience preferred, but not required
- Skills: Experience using ESRI software, strong attention to detail, ability to read plats and utility plans, willingness to learn scripting (Python, Arcade, SQL), and excellent communication skills
