The City of Des Peres, Missouri is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our team for the summer (mid-May – mid-August). This is a great opportunity to work on a variety of projects and learn from experienced professionals in the field. Our interns get hands-on experience and are given a high level of responsibility, providing practical skills and connections that they will utilize throughout their careers.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Be working towards an undergraduate degree with a focus on Construction Management or Civil Engineering
- Have completed at least one year of relevant coursework
- Have a driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Have a thorough understanding of Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Pass a background check and drug screen
- Be authorized to work in the United States
Primary Responsibilities:
- Construction Management
- Inspections for street reconstruction projects (both asphalt and concrete)
- Field surveys of infrastructure to determine necessary repairs
- Asset management with GIS
- Other duties as assigned
Company Information: The City of Des Peres is located in West St. Louis County at the intersection of Interstate 270 and Manchester Road which places it central to the St. Louis Metropolitan Area and within seven miles of the City of St. Louis. Des Peres is a high-end community with approximately 3,200 households and a population of 9,158. Our city is also home to a significant concentration of retail and commercial development including the international headquarters of Edward Jones and the West County Center Regional Shopping Center.
Preferred candidates include undergraduate civil engineering or construction management students who have completed at least one year in college. Candidates must demonstrate responsibility and reliability while working on their own and with others. The selected candidate will be provided with a work vehicle, laptop, and all necessary tools.
Proposed period of employment is mid-May through mid-August 2025. There may be an opportunity for continued part-time employment during the fall semester for local candidates. Salary range is $20-$22 per hour. No benefits are included other than social security and workers’ compensation as required by law.
