Summary

Responsible for performing field inspections related to all phases of stormwater pollution prevention and gas well production to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and ordinances.

DUTIES
- Inspect construction sites for Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) Construction General Permit (TXR150000) compliance; accurately enter inspection results in appropriate system.
- Inspect industrial sites for Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) Industrial Stormwater Multi-Sector General Permit (TXR050000); accurately enter inspection results in appropriate system.
- Review erosion and sediment control plans and stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs) for construction and industrial sites permitted within the City of Denton.
- Inspect gas well drilling and production sites to ensure compliance with Denton Development Code and applicable standards and practices.
- Prepare enforcement for non-compliant instances and issue in coordination with leadership, as required.
- Communicate inspection results with site operators, as appropriate.
- Perform water sample collection, analysis, and equipment maintenance monitoring.
- Conduct dry weather screening of outfalls.
- Maintain permitted sites database and investigation/inspection history in appropriate electronic platforms.
- Respond to and conduct investigations on reported illicit discharges and gas well complaints; report findings to leadership for appropriate action.
- Assist with presenting and conducting outreach activities to a variety of audiences including, but not limited to, site operators, departments, students, trade groups, and professional organizations.
- Prepare reports, as required.

Job Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent; and,
- Three (3) years’ experience in water resources management, field inspection, environmental inspection, plan review, erosion control, stormwater, gas well, or related field; and,
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control In-training (CISEC-IT)/Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC) or Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control In-training (CPESC-IT)/Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) or Certified Erosion, Sediment, and StormWater Inspector In-training (CESSWI-IT)/ Certified Erosion, Sediment, and StormWater Inspector (CESSWI) within one (1) year of employment,
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

- Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition; perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, as appropriate and/or notify leadership immediately of needed repairs.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to leadership.
