What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Residential Collection Station Attendant position at City of Denison?

Performs a variety of routine manual tasks in the area of collection of solid waste. Performs related work as required.

The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competence and satisfactory performance of these duties. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  1. Greet the public and assist with the residential collection needs.
  2. Lock/unlock gates and office at the residential collection station. 
  3. Measure quantities of solid waste collected.
  4. Keep daily documentation and records of residential collection activities. 
  5. May use calculator for daily calculations and recordkeeping.
  6. Basic working knowledge of a computer
  7. Other duties as required by supervisor

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  1. Ability to communicate with the public and other customers regarding residential collection guidelines and policy.
  2. Ability to measure and calculate quantities.
  3. Ability to write and record simple daily collection activities and transactions.
  4. Ability to perform small manual labor.
  5. Ability to understand and follow simple oral and/or written instructions.
  6. Ability to maintain consistent attendance

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have high school diploma/GED
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Must have valid driving record sufficient for coverage by City’s auto liability carrier at the time of placement
  • Excellent public relations skills

  •  Ability to withstand frequent standing and walking.
  • Ability to withstand frequently carrying and lifting objects ranging from 1-15 pounds.
  • Ability to step up or down to enter or exit City properties.
  • Work in adverse environmental conditions including inclement weather and hazardous conditions including fumes, odors, dust/mist, chemicals and exposure to insects
