What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Intern position at City of Denison?
Responsible for assisting the City of Denison Administrative staff and other staff as directed with various operations related issues by performing a wide variety of professional, administrative and technical duties relating to the management and general operations of the City of Denison. May serve in an administrative role for multiple divisions simultaneously. May oversee special projects as assigned.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists with the execution and management of special projects or assignments. This may entail researching, analyzing information, and preparing reports/recommendations, and existing projects.
- Provides principle administrative, maintains calendars, makes appointments and arranges for meetings, conferences and assembles established background materials.
- Assists with the creation and execution of policies administration and other related matters.
- Assists with file retention and records for divisions.
- Reviews pay request from consultants, contractors, and vendors for accuracy.
- Assists with surveys
- Assist with other duties as required to include, but not limited to programs, employee relations, staffing, safety, & local, state, and federal compliance issues
- Attend meetings and events.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations in city government
- Intermediate computer skills using Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Internet, Adobe Acrobat and Outlook
- Good office administration skills
- Requires effective written and oral communication skills
- Must be self-motivated and capable of functioning effectively in an independent situation, while maintaining a sense of the overall goals in the Parks and Recreation Department.
- This individual must have an appreciation and understanding of customer service oriented environment.
- Timeliness and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Must have high school diploma/GED
- Must have driver's license
- Must have driving record sufficient for coverage by City's auto liability carrier
- Currently pursuing or plans to pursue Bachelor or Master Degree in Public Administration or related field.
- Any combination of education and experience that results in acceptable proficiency levels in the above minimum qualifications and responsibilities
