- Perform routine maintenance on water and wastewater distribution systems, lift stations and/or Water Treatment Plant.
- Install and repair water distribution, sanitary sewer lines, lift stations, manholes, and all related facilities.
- Dig and refill ditches, load dirt and construction materials.
- Perform lawn maintenance activities as assigned.
- Operate light power equipment.
- Read and interpret water meter on assigned routes and record reading in handheld device as assigned.
- Turn water service on and off at individuals’ meter in accordance with authorization of supervisors.
- Cleans out meter boxes and registers.
- Inspects meters and connections for damage, defects and unauthorized connections as assigned.
- Notifies customers of water turn-off due to non-payment, answers inquiries regarding services. Investigates and solves customer complaints.
- Reports faulty meters; inspect visible plumbing for water leakage.
- Conduct all activities in accordance with Palm Beach County Code of Ethics
- Foster positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis.
- High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma;
- Two (2) years of experience in heavy manual labor and the use of hand and light power tools.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License, with a satisfactory driving record
