This is skilled work in leading crews that are responsible for repairing, inspecting, constructing, and/or maintaining any of the following: gravity mains, manholes, raw water wells, water and sewer network, storm sewers, catch basins, sidewalk repairs and replacements, asphalt and concrete applications, landscape and grounds keeping operations and/or routine maintenance and manual work in the care and upkeep of City facilities. This work involves monitoring and providing detailed reporting of all work performed. Work is performed under general supervision.
**Hours of work 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.**
It is the policy of the City of Delray Beach that persons having a CDL and participating in activities regulated by DOT are subject to drug testing and alcohol testing. The Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 requires alcohol and drug testing of safety-sensitive employees in aviation, motor carriers, railroad, and mass transit industries. Provisions of this policy are based upon said Act and the relevant federal regulations applicable to the Act. As a condition of employment, The City of Delray Beach reserves the right to require all employees having a CDL and performing safety-sensitive activities regulated by DOT, to submit at any time to drug and/or alcohol testing to determine the presence of prohibited substances.

- Punctuality and regular attendance are essential functions of this position.**
- Lead and instruct staff in installation, repair and preventative maintenance in various assigned activities as described under General Purpose and Description (above).
- Prepare routine reports, written work orders and maintain records.
- Accurately relate daily assignment of work and review/discussion of completed jobs to crew(s).
- Assist in training and ensure quality workmanship of the crew(s).
- Coordinate work with other crews to maintain deadlines and safety practices.
- May perform heavy manual functions, if required.
- May set up and operate laser and sight alignment and leveling tools, if required.
- May operate a mower, backhoe, end load, box-blade truck or large dump truck, if required.
- Perform semi-skilled tasks in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, dry wall, concrete, tile and patch, air conditioning work, safety inspections as assigned.
- Move furniture and other objects; assist in normal clean-up activities as assigned.
- Open facilities to set up chairs and tables for activities as assigned.
- Foster positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis
- High School graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Three (3) years of professional, verifiable experience in work specified in the General Purpose and Description.
- Previous crew leader, foreman or supervisor experience preferred.
- Must have a Florida Driver's license with satisfactory driving record and possess or obtain a valid Florida Driver's License, Class B, CDL, with airbrakes and tanker endorsements within six (6) months of hire, excluding Parks Maintenance, Clean and Safe, and Utility Maintenance Divisions. These divisions must possess a valid Florida Class E Driver's License.
- Must possess a Water Distribution Operator III License issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection or obtain it within six months of the appointment.
