What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Maintenance Technician III position at City of Del City?
GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing maintenance to all City structures, facilities and equipment. Work requires the exercise of independent judgement, initiative and discretion based on a knowledge of building maintenance in performing daily activities. Work also involves routine contact with officials and employees of the City’s departments, divisions and offices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:
- Handles light to heavy building maintenance duties.
- Capable of HVAC installation and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of electrical and plumbing codes.
- Completes special projects and has adequate knowledge of dry wall, painting, and trim work.
- Must maintain accurate records pertaining to preventive maintenance, servicing of equipment, project tracking and work orders scheduling and completion.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have own hand tools.
- Must have working knowledge of electrical, welding and plumbing.
- May be required to work weekends or holidays, and be available for emergency call back after hours.
- Performs related work as assigned or required.
- Possession of a valid Oklahoma State Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the City’s insurance carrier.
- Mechanical Journeyman or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
- Ability to obtain a refrigerant recovery license within one (1) year of employment.
- Ability to prepare purchase orders for items needed, as well as the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with City officials, employees and citizens.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor in extreme weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
- Two (2) years previous experience in building maintenance procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of high school or equivalent.
- Electrical and/or plumbing license.
SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED:
Works under the direct supervision of the Public Works Director. Directs other employees as assigned including part-time and full-time.
This job classification has been designated a safety sensitive job classification in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, 63 O.S., § 427.1 et seq., (OSCN 2019), effective August 29, 2019.
Pay: $24.79 - $32.35 per hour
