General Description The Event Server is responsible for assisting the Parks and Recreation Staff in the safe operation of the beer garden, including supervising attendees, serving beer, ensuring collection and security of revenue, and event operation of bar serving equipment. The Event Server will assist in the communication between the Parks and Recreation staff. This position works under the general supervision of the Manager on duty, Parks and Recreation Director, or other supervisor(s), as assigned.
Bartender License Fee will be reimbursed by the City of De Pere. Beer Garden Events take place at Voyageur Park in De Pere on Tuesdays from June 9th - August 18th, from 4:30pm - 8:30pm. Staff is expected to work 15 minutes prior and after the event for set up and take down.
Essential Functions Under general supervision: Assists in the safe and proper operation of beer garden; ensures that all beer garden rules and safety guidelines are followed, reports breaches of rules, as necessary; enforces all serving guidelines and regulations according to city ordinances and state laws. Communicates to City of De Pere supervisor if any persons act in any inappropriate manner, which is unlawful or endangers themselves or others, who in turn, will alert the proper authorities. Communicates all emergency situations while on duty to the manager on duty and Parks and Recreation staff and/or emergency services.
Monitor's and maintains beer garden bar and/or beer trailer to beer distributor & City of De Pere standards. Assists with cleaning of beer garden and surrounding area; ensures it is done to a level to achieve sanitary and pleasing conditions at the park grounds. Assists with set up and take down of each beer garden event in cooperation with beer distributor and Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Dept.

Handles patron complaints and concerns effectively and with consideration, using good public relations skills; communicates effectively with City of De Pere Parks and Recreation staff. Performs other related duties as assigned or required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge and understanding of state and local serving guidelines, including checking ID's.
Knowledge of basic bartending techniques, maintenance operations and Beer Garden regulations. Knowledge of prevention of accidents related to and around the beer garden. Knowledge of City's policies, procedures and emergency action plans.
Ability to work in a team-based environment and achieve common goals; provide efficient service. Ability to maintain accurate records and submit necessary reports. Ability to exercise tact, maintain pose and professionalism and use good judgment in resolving disputes and differences arising with the public.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including the general public, employees, and community leaders. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing and to understand and follow written and oral instructions and procedures. Ability to handle emergency situations effectively and efficiently and enforce safety and health regulations.
Ability to work outdoors in summer and fall weather conditions. Ability to plan, organize, implement, and oversee a beer garden event. Ability to lift moderate amounts of weight (up to 50 lbs.) and stand for long periods of time
Ability to use computers and related event and financial software. Minimum Requirements & Physical Requirements At least 18 years of age Valid and current City of De Pere bartending license Bartending experience desired Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
Salary : $14 - $16
