This position helps to clean and maintain library facilities, performs manual tasks related to the cleanliness and appearance of The Library building and grounds, prepares buildings for opening, maintains safety and cleanliness of library grounds, and performs various other duties as assigned.
This position may require scheduling at any library facility as well as off-site locations during days, nights, and weekends.Weekly Schedule: Monday 12:00pm-9:00pm
Tuesday 12:00pm-9:00pm
Wednesday 12:00pm-9:00pm
Thursday 12:00pm-9:00pm
Saturday 7:00am-4:00pm
Examples Of Duties
- Creates a welcoming environment by providing excellent customer service and maintaining the appearance of public areas.
- Demonstrates commitment to The Library’s mission and vision by actively promoting services and resources.
- Communicates effectively with colleagues, patrons, stakeholders, and the community by responding to queries in a timely manner.
- Cleans and maintains the interior and exterior of the building.
- Maintains library grounds and performs minor lawncare and snow removal.
- Properly handles and mixes cleaning solutions.
- Monitors HVAC systems and reports anomalies to supervisor or City Facilities Maintenance.
- Communicates with building vendors and City Facilities Maintenance in absence of supervisor.
- Selects and orders cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Completes online building reports.
- Opens, closes, and secures buildings as scheduled.
- Completes minor building repair projects.
- Reports any library vehicle issues to supervisor.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with contractors and vendors.
- Occasionally works events outside of normal library operating hours and assists with projects.
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on building equipment and various other items.
- Files OSHA Material Safety Data Sheets for products in use.
- Answers questions for new coworkers.
- Serves as a backup for the delivery of library materials.

- Proficiency in basic computer, software, and technology tools.

- Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment best practices that ensures a safe work environment.
