Position Summary
Performs logistics and warehouse support work in the receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies, materials, parts, and equipment used in City operations. Assists with maintaining inventory, supporting daily operational needs, and learning procurement and logistics processes. Work is performed under general supervision and requires attention to detail, organization, and the ability to follow established procedures while assisting with all assigned duties.

  • Assists with receiving, inspecting, and verifying incoming shipments for accuracy and condition
  • Stocks and organizes materials, parts, and supplies in designated locations
  • Issues parts and materials to City personnel as directed
  • Assists in maintaining inventory records, including basic counts and stock monitoring
  • Supports ordering and restocking of supplies as directed
  • Learns and utilizes the City’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for inventory and work tracking
  • Labels and organizes inventory items for efficient storage and retrieval
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and safety of warehouse and storage areas
  • Assists in tracking material usage and reporting needs to supervisors
  • Coordinates with vendors and delivery personnel as directed
  • Operates light equipment such as pallet jacks or hand trucks; may assist with forklifts upon certification
  • Supports Fleet, Public Works, Utilities, and other departments with materials and logistics needs
  • Performs basic clerical and administrative tasks related to inventory and supply operations
  • Performs all other assigned duties as required

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Some experience in warehouse operations, inventory, or related field preferred
  • Basic computer skills required; ability to learn CMMS and inventory systems
  • Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe)
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification within (6) six months of hire

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse operations and materials handling preferred
  • Ability to follow instructions and learn inventory control practices
  • Ability to perform basic data entry and maintain accurate records
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good communication skills when interacting with staff and vendors
  • Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to work in warehouse and outdoor environments, including varying weather conditions

Work Environment
Work is performed in warehouse, shop, and outdoor settings. Exposure to noise, dust, mechanical equipment, and varying temperatures may occur.
