MAKE A DIFFERENCE AS A KENNEL TECHNICIAN AIDE I

As a Part-Time Kennel Technician Aide I with the City of Cortez, CO, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy environment for our animal residents. Your daily responsibilities will include cleaning kennels and cat cages to ensure each animal has a clean and safe space, while also providing essential care by feeding and watering the animals. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A KENNEL TECHNICIAN AIDE I

To thrive as a Part-Time Kennel Technician Aide I at the City of Cortez, CO, a range of essential skills and attributes is required. A genuine affection for animals and a deep concern for their welfare are paramount, alongside the ability to effectively interact with both the animals and the public, even in potentially volatile situations. Candidates must stay informed about animal control regulations, health issues, and new laws, demonstrating a willingness to be trained in euthanasia protocols when necessary. Strong communication skills are crucial for collaborating with co-workers and engaging with the community. The role demands physical stamina as you will perform strenuous activities and lift up to 50 pounds.

Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to analyze situations and make responsible decisions are also key traits. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends, is necessary, and all applicants must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and hold a valid Colorado driver’s license.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
  • Must be able to learn animal control regulations
