What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer - Bulk Solid Waste position at City of Corsicana?
Job Summary
Performs routine unskilled manual labor. Cleans drainage ways, ditches, culverts, inlets and rights-of-way, including alleys and easements. Performs tasks such as removing/trimming trees, mowing grass, weeding, brush removal, and clearing drainage structures of debris. Works outside with various hand tools such as mowers, weed-eaters, chainsaws, pruners, shovels, hoes, rakes, brush-axes and machetes.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work outside in varied weather conditions. Must be physically agile enough to move up and down creek banks and other work sites safely and efficiently. Requires the ability to perform strenuous work activities and carry heavy loads up to 100 lbs. Must be able to physically crawl inside and through pipe structures (of sufficient diameter) for purposes of cleaning and removing obstructions. Cleans tools, equipment and vehicles by various means. May be exposed to vehicle fumes and loud noises.
Other Aspects of the Job
Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Knowledge of the use of minor tools is necessary. Ability to carry heavy loads and maintain strenuous work activities throughout the work day and work in adverse heat and cold weather conditions. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record. Punctuality and regular attendance are required. Must satisfactorily complete a one-year probation period.
