What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard I (Part-time) position at City of Coral Springs?
An employee in this class is responsible for safeguarding patrons at a City swimming pool by preventing injury or loss of life through drowning and for administering first aid or artificial respiration. Work is performed in accordance with departmental rules and regulations governing the public use of swimming pools, and by the recognized practices of water safety. Supervision is received from a superior who makes work assignments and reviews work for orderliness and rule enforcement by visual inspection and conferences.
Days/Hours: About 25 hours/week, rotating schedule within operations of facility:
Weekdays from 5:30 AM to 9:00 PM, and weekends from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Schedule may include weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events as needed. -Ensure safety of patrons while utilizing swimming and fitness facilities.
Swim 400 yards or meters and perform CPR, rescue. Breathing, conscious and unconscious choking. Water skills test may be administered as a measure for qualifying.
Candidates must successfully complete all skills and requirements of the American Red Cross lifeguard course upon hire.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as City swimming pools practices with equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations.
