These opportunities are paid at $21.98 per hour!
A great way to gain experience and learn about exciting employment opportunities with the Coon Rapids Police Department. Law Enforcement students have an opportunity to earn tuition reimbursement after being employed for 6 months in good standing and who provide paid or unpaid service for a minimum of 250 hours per year. - Participate in non-enforcement duties including but are not limited to: 4th of July events, Anoka Ramsey Community College security, hockey security, park patrol and Coon Rapids High School football games. The Coon Rapids Police Reserve Unit also assists in emergencies and natural disasters in the community and around Minnesota.
The Requirements To Join The Reserve Unit Are
- Must be able to attend Reserve Academy held once a week for approximately 2 months.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
- Possess a valid Minnesota driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- Ability to walk, stand, run, lift, and carry for extended periods of time if needed.
- Able and willing to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to complete/pass criminal history and background check.
- Pass an oral examination by a review board.
- Complete a probationary period.
- Attend a minimum of 3 out of 4 quarterly meetings.
- All reserve officers are required to volunteer a minimum of 100 hours per year at events in the community.
- Ability to work effectively and courteously with the public in essential.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a United States citizen.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalency.
- A valid driver's license is required to drive squad cars.
- A background check will be completed on all applicants including law enforcement contacts, driver's license history and criminal background.
- All reserve officers are required to attend three out of four meetings each year.
- All reserve officers are required to volunteer a minimum of 100 hours per year at events in the community.
- Ability to work effectively and courteously with the public is essential.
