What are the responsibilities and job description for the Permit Assistant Supervisor position at City of Conroe?

JOB SUMMARY
Supports daily permit processing operations by ensuring consistent interpretation and application of code requirements, policies, and procedures, while promoting a high level of customer service and timely issuance of all permits for the City of Conroe. Assists with monitoring revenue intake, reconciling financial and technical reports, maintaining the City's permanent construction records, and responding to public open records requests.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent with some college courses preferred and two (2) years of experience in a building or planning department, with six months experience in computerized building permit applications processing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
ICC Permit Technician certification or must obtain within 1 year of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, familiarity with building plans, codes, ordinances and related terminology.
- Knowledge of OpenGov preferred.
- Knowledge of Incode preferred.
- Knowledge of the processes and procedures associated with the building construction permitting process.
- Skill in both written and oral communication.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply departmental policies and procedures related to the acceptance and review of permit applications.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of people, including industry professionals, internal staff and the general public, as well as maintain composure under difficult circumstances.
- Ability to complete tasks with multiple distractions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: fingering, hearing, mental acuity, repetitive motions, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
