THIS POSITION IS ASSIGNED TO PARKS OPERATIONS
JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician I performs labor intensive tasks while performing routine general and preventative maintenance to grounds, equipment, facilities and infrastructure on a daily basis. This position requires a good understanding of basic facility repairs, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. This position may complete tasks within close proximity to the general public and must be capable of providing a safe work zone. This position is expected to maintain the highest level of customer service while engaging with contractors, the general public and other city departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent with one year of minimum experience.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or higher. First Aid, CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain within six months.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles and practices of parks and recreation facilities maintenance and repair or related services.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of safe work habits.
- Skill in operating a variety of tools, equipment, vehicles and trailers.
- Skill in analyzing problems and developing effective solutions.
- Ability to work independently or cohesively as part of a team.
- Ability to understand and follow the City of Conroe/Departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
