The purpose of this position is to assist in construction projects, water line repair/installation and maintenance of the water infrastructure.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Digs holes, installs piping, and performs debris removal after job is complete.
- Replaces non-operating meters, meter boxes, and lids.
- Discontinues and reinstates water services and secures final reading for customer service.
- Installs, repairs, and services water lines, fire hydrants and valves.
- Loads truck with supplies and materials needed to complete the job.
- Performs other similar duties as required.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
- Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, and talking.
- Very Heavy: Exerting over 100 pounds occasionally, 50 - 100 pounds frequently, or from 20 up to 50 pounds constantly.
- Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, and physical hazards.
- Reading and interpreting data
- Performing basic mathematical calculations
- Operating machinery and hand tools
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
