What are the responsibilities and job description for the SEASONAL - Acacia Park Community Guide & Park Attendant (PT Guide or Interpreter) position at City of Colorado Springs?
About the Job: We are looking for a welcoming, energetic, and customer service oriented representatives of the community to answer and disseminate visitor information, market community events, and assist with other activities as assigned in the Acacia Park Visitor Hub and around the Uncle Wilbur Fountain in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs.
This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).
Anticipated dates of employment will be May 26th thru September 4th. The normal work schedule is daily (weekends and holidays included), between 11:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. approximately 20 to 25 hours per week. Total hours worked not to exceed 1,500 annually.
As an Acacia Park Community Guide & Park Attendant you will:
- Operate the Acacia Park Visitors Hub, including opening and closing
- Share local knowledge; make recommendations about restaurants, businesses and activities; and highlight downtown amenities and regional attractions
- Coordinate, stock, and maintain brochure information; create informational handouts
- Provide a high level of customer service, address safety issues, and respond to emergencies
- Support an organized and accessible visitor's center
- Provide a welcoming atmosphere for visitors
- Manage, schedule, and coordinate Hub games in the courtyard
- Compile the guest register and visitor counts
- Empty trash receptacles surrounding the Uncle Wilbur Fountain area and assist with Visitor Hub cleanliness
- Other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of the Pikes Peak Region
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Publisher
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to commit to working the entire season of operations
- Two years of customer service-oriented experience, including experience working with tourists
- First Aid and CPR certification (First Aid & CPR class provided by the City)
Salary : $15 - $21
