What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Bailiff/Warrant Officer (Part-Time) position at City of Colleyville?
Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to provide courtroom security for citizens and court staff and ensure that all those entering the courtroom are following written policies and procedures designed to provide a secure environment.The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. - Maintains courtroom security and control of jury members, as well as the prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses, court participants and spectators.
- Maintains order and prevents conditions and/or situations from becoming hostile and potentially dangerous.
- Protects and safeguards the courtroom at all times, including the judge and court staff, defendants, witnesses and the public.
- Ensures the care and safety of jurors, sequestering, parking, certificates of jury service and jury meals.
- Ensures the care and safety of prisoners.
- Escorts defendants, witnesses and the public to assigned areas during trials.
- Inspects/searches package(s) as individuals enter the courtroom.
- Monitors person(s) entering and leaving the courtroom.
- May make arrests as needed and will serve warrants.
- Collect fines for warrants.
- Transfer prisoners.
- Pick up and deliver court documents and/or cash bonds.
- Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
- Regular and timely attendance is required for this position.
- Minimum age of 21 and a High School Diploma or GED.
- Possession of a basic license as a peace officer from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

- Must possess good moral character and meet any other standards set by law or by policy of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
- Must obtain Court Security Certification upon hire.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Texas Driver's License.
- Lateral Entry Officers must meet the requirements set forth in the Colleyville Police Department's General Orders 401 (L).
Salary : $38 - $46
