Description
Principal Duties
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of street repair and maintenance jobs under general direction of the Supervisor.
- Operate construction and maintenance equipment used routinely during public works activities.
- Assure equipment is in operating condition and properly maintained by regularly inspecting for operational efficiency.
- Enforce and utilize safety equipment as needed in the course of duty.
- Conduct on-the-job safety instruction and training to personnel regarding the safe operation of heavy equipment.
- Perform customer service duties to include but not limited to, interacting with customers over the phone and/or responding to and resolving citizen inquiries or complaints.
- Respond to service request problems encountered during assigned activities.
- Input work order information into computerized work order system.
- Assist with inventory of street/drainage materials and tools.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required: High School Diploma or G.E.D., and two (2) years additional technical training in a field related to area of assignment, and two (2) years’ experience related to area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
Knowledge of the Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
