CUSTODIAN Senior Services

: Position involves manual work in the performance of maintenance and custodial tasks in public buildings. Involves responsibility for cleaning, building operations, and minor maintenance, work performed in accordance with established routines with specific instructions provided on non-routine tasks.

: - Will be responsible for the maintenance of center. Hours of work will be at the discretion of the Senior Services Director.

• Sweeps, mops and polishes floors using hand tools and power equipment.
• Keeps sidewalks free debris and snow as necessary.
• Washes walls, windows and woodwork.
• Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies.
• Sets up chairs and tables and rearranges furniture in preparation for meetings or other special events to be held.
• Assists in replenishing supplies for activities.
• Will be required to assist with special events sponsored by the Department.
• Maintain grounds of center by mowing, weeding, and picking up trash as needed.
• Responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of vehicles used by the centers.
• May be needed to assist with light office work, when office staff are not available.
• Other duties may be assigned.
  
  

: Minimum Qualifications

• Six (6) months work experience preferred. Experience in the use and care of custodial equipment and janitorial cleaning methods is preferred
  
  

Licenses and Certificates

• New Mexico Class D drivers license, equivalent of higher.
  
  

Knowledge Of

• The use of computers and light office work is preferred
  
  

Skill In

• The use and care of custodial equipment. Janitorial cleaning experience
• Safe operation of small equipment; hand and power tools and lawn care equipment.
  
  

Ability To

• Perform functions with minimal supervision; understand and follow basic safety precautions, rules and regulations, establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationship with others.
  
  

: Physical Requirements

• Moderately heavy work involving frequent standing, walking, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling and squatting; pushing, pulling and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  
  

Working Conditions

• Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services.
• Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Clovis policies.
• Essential duties are predominantly performed indoors with occasional outdoor exposure to all types of weather conditions including working at night in the dark
• Employee is exposed to airborne particles, potentially toxic and/or caustic chemicals, and extreme temperatures.
• Use of safety shoes, glasses and other equipment is required
