Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing, recording and verifying receipts for property taxes and citations. This position is the primary administrative support for Administration and front counter. Works under general supervision of the Finance Director.
Duties
- Performs customer service functions; provides assistance and information related to City services, procedures, fees, or other issues; collects/processes payments for property taxes, citations, business licenses and other payments;
- Balances cash drawer; prepares bank deposits; assists in month end balancing of accounts.
- Provides administrative support to the City Manager, Finance Director, Human Resources Manager, and Senior Staff Administrator.
- Respond to public inquiries on the telephone and in-person; provide information and assistance in a courteous manner.
- Processes delinquent taxes; works with City Attorney and Anderson County Clerk and Master’s office to transfer delinquent tax rolls; mails out delinquent tax notices as required.
- Invoices and maintains records on in-lieu of tax entities.
- Processes and records a variety of basic accounting transactions to include; entering and processing transactions, reconciliation, retrieving account data, balancing cash receipts, and preparing related reports.
- Prepares weekly school transfer and related end-of-the-month reports.
- Prepares a variety of reports related to tax revenue and other payments.
- Processes applications for business licenses through the State.
- Administrative duties, to include; processes, receives, sorts, and distributes a variety of correspondence, deliveries, and mail; makes photocopies; recordkeeping, filing, order office supplies, answers phone and faxes documents.
- Attends safety and job-related training sessions.

Experience and Education
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in business, accounting or related field (years of experience can be substituted for degree).
(A comparable amount of training, education and/or experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.)
- Minimum five (5) years’ full-time work experience in accounting or related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint and heavy work in Excel.
- Knowledge or ability to learn UKG/Kronos.
- Attention to detail is required.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
