EXAMINATION INFORMATION
EXPERIENCE EVALUATION: An experience evaluation consists of a quantitative evaluation of an Applicant’s academic training and experience pertinent to the classification for which an examination is taken, based on the statement of experience as recorded on the candidate’s application and on academic training based on required credentials.

Job Duties
Under general direction, investigates, diagnoses, and remediates where possible in response to Division of Water customer complaints. Acts as the first responder to water distribution system emergencies such as leaks, breaks, etc. to mitigate or resolve the situation through correct workflow, follow-up, and/or job prioritization. Investigates, remediates, or refers the following: Street depressions; Hydrant and service line leaks which would include inspection, testing, and sampling for origination clarification; Poor pressure complaints; Hydrant flushing; House-to-house Hookups; Brick Vault (BV) leaks; Turn on/off of water service; Turn off/take out BV and base meters; Reset/change BV and base meter leak/change/reset; Missing cover replacements; Flush-outs; Dig-ups. Utilizes and operates tools for repair work on water distribution system appurtenances. Reads maps and utilizes a computer. Surveys areas of concern and communicates activities and conditions which may impact task initiation and/or completion. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required. Three years of full-time paid distribution maintenance field operations and repairs experience, which includes two years of water pipe repair required. (Substitution: Five years of full-time paid water distribution investigation experience may be substituted for the two years of water pipe repair experience.) Solid verbal communication skills and the ability to work alone, in confined spaces, at any time of day or night, and/or outdoors in extreme weather conditions are required. Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds. Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required. A Water Distribution Operator’s License is preferred.

CLEVELAND MUNICIPAL SCHOOL DISTRICT (CMSD) PREFERENCE CREDIT
An applicant who is a graduate of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) and is participating in an open competitive entrance-level examination, as determined by the Commission, shall receive an additional five (5) points upon achieving a passing score, as established in the examination announcement. Applicants must provide acceptable proof of graduation from a CMSD school at the time of application to qualify for this credit.
VETERANS’ PREFERENCE
Veterans' preference will be awarded, when applicable, to eligible veterans in accordance with Civil Service Rules 4.40E, 4.40F and 4.40G. Proof of active service or a DD Form 214, must be presented to the Commission at the time of filingapplication for the examination in which credit is sought in order to qualify for veterans' credit. If the applicant has received an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions that applicant shall receive an additional five (5) points added to their raw score on the examination; or ten (10) points are added to their raw score on the examination if applicant’s supporting documentation indicates more than fifteen percent (15%) service-connected disability. NOTE:Only DD Form 214 (long form) or an official armed service document indicating type of discharge or separation and the dates of active service will be accepted as proof of active service.
