SUMMARY: The Youth Sports Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing and managing youth sports programs. This position involves coordinating various sports activities, ensuring a safe and positive environment that fosters a love for physical activity among the community’s youth.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration:- Keep accurate records of participant registrations, attendance and program evaluations.
- Prepare reports for management and funding agencies.

Assist with budgeting and fundraising efforts.

Coaching and Instruction:
- Lead coaching sessions, practices and skill-building clinics.
- Provide guidance on technique, strategy and fitness.

Ensure safety protocols are followed during all activities.

Community Outreach:
- Promote youth sports programs within the community.
- Establish partnerships with schools, local businesses and other organizations.
- Attend community meetings and engage with parents and other stakeholders.

Order team uniforms, T-shirts, equipment, etc.

Event Coordination:
- Organize sports events, including championships and friendly matches.
- Manage logistics such as scheduling, assigning of officials and awards.
- Collaborate with volunteers and referees/officials.

Participant Engagement:
- Recruit and register participants for sports programs.
- Communicate program details, rules and expectations to parents, participants and coaches.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship and personal growth.

Program Development:
- Collaborate with community organizations, schools, parents and other stakeholders to design age-appropriate sports programs.
- Create a diverse range of sports offerings (e.g. soccer, basketball, flag-football, tennis) to cater to different interests and skill levels.
Typical Qualifications
QUALFICATIONS:
- Bachelor degree in sports management, physical education or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in working with youth in recreational or sports setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Possess a current/valid Ohio driver’s license.
- First Aid and CPR/AED certification preferred.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
