SUMMARY:Seasonal position (August through April). Incumbent coordinates with a variety of internal parks & recreation staff and external youth sports agencies to achieve success in the City of Cleveland Heights’ youth hockey programs. This goal will be accomplished through a wide range of tasks including coaching and scheduling to implementing promotions.

Coordinates instructors for Learn to Play / Tot Hockey program
Works with Eastside Tigers & ADM coaches to ensure attendance at meetings, including Cleveland Monsters Learn to Play among other events.
Assists with Try Hockey Free and additional promotional rink events.
Facilitates the progression of participants from Learn to Skate to Learn to Play and from Learn to Play to Eastside Tigers ADM n programs
With EST coaches, plans and schedules tryouts, team selection, practices, clinics, and game slots
Together with the Board of EST, keeps program in good standing with both the USA Hockey and the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League
- Exhibits a positive demeanor toward customers and maintains productive working relationships
- Participates in the accomplishment of departmental goals and objectives
- Communicates and enforces USA Hockey rules and regulations
- Some duties may be accomplished at home, while in-person attendance may also be required.
- Once in-person schedules are coordinated with supervisor and EST, employee is responsible for maintaining regular attendance and punctuality
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to skate
- Experienced in ice rink activities – specifically hockey.
- Customer service and time management abilities
- Experience working with a diverse population
- Strong interpersonal skills; capable of tactfully, diplomatically, and courteously interact with children and adults participating in hockey activities
- High level of maturity, confidentiality, assertiveness, as well as quick-thinking, trouble-shooting abilities
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Effective communication skills
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
