What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer - Streets position at City of Cleveland Heights?
Primary responsibilities will be those identified by the supervisor of each Division including, but not limited to: the ability to safely utilize a wide variety of equipment and perform heavy physical duties. This includes, but is not limited to repairing and finishing of roads, sidewalks and curbing; laying asphalt, snow removal, collection of leaves, and other duties as assigned.
Position will require individual to be versatile to work in other Public Works Divisions as needed and the possibility of shift changes as mandated by the needs to the Department.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have an Ohio Commercial Driver's License (Class B) and excellent driving record
- Prefer experience driving various types of larger vehicles including pickup and dump trucks
- Must be in excellent physical condition to perform heavy manual labor outdoors in all climatic conditions
- Must have the ability to safely lift approximately 90 pounds independently
- Must have the ability to operate equipment including, but not limited to, snowplow, salt trucks, and related equipment
- Must be available to work third shift 11pm-7am
- Must be able to carry out verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work well with others
- Must assist in all other department activities as requested including leaf collection and snow / ice removal
- Reliable attendance required
