This is a full-time, on-site role based in Cleveland, OH, for a Chief Building Official. The Chief Building Official will oversee the administration and enforcement of building codes and regulations, manage inspection activities, and ensure the safety and compliance of construction projects. Key responsibilities include supervising a team of building inspectors, reviewing permits, collaborating with city departments, and providing expert guidance to stakeholders. This role plays a critical role in shaping the safety and functionality of the city’s built environment while adhering to municipal, state, and federal regulations.
- Expertise in construction codes, building safety regulations, and plan review processes
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with city departments, contractors, and community members
- Problem-solving and analytical skills for identifying and addressing code-related issues
- Proficiency in record-keeping, report preparation, and process optimization
- Certification as a Building Official and/or other relevant professional designations is preferred
- Experience with municipal government or regulatory agencies is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
