JOB SUMMARY:
Officiate at competitive athletic or sporting events. Detects infractions of rules and decides penalties according to established regulations.

- Enforces rules of the game;
- Makes sure the rules of the game are being followed by both players and coaches;
- Assesses fouls, violations, or any unsportsmanlike conduct that takes place on the field/court;
- Makes sure coaches are in designated areas, players are in correct positions, and fans are not on the field or court;
- Maintains order of the field or court;
- Provides a fair environment for all players, coaches, and fans;
- Inspects equipment to make sure all are suitable for play before the beginning of the game;
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.,
- TSSAA Certification is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE (Position requirements at entry):
- Knowledge of sport rules and regulations;
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS (position requirements at entry):
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including speaking to groups;
- Ability to walk, run, and lift continuously for multiple hours;
- Ability to handle fast-paced, high stress environment;
- Ability to deal courteously with the public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, running, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Incumbents may be subjected to blood borne pathogens.
