This position is located in our Supply Division. This employee supervises and coordinates assigned engineering activities and operations within an assigned department, including Water Works, Metropolitan Sewer District, or Public Works. Employee coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies, and the general public and provides highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the assigned supervisor. Performs related duties as required.(Illustrative only. Any one position may not require all of the listed KSAs nor do the listed examples include all the KSAs which may be required.)

Knowledge of:
modern complex principles and practices of engineering as related to assigned area of responsibility.?
Design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of and use of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Surveying and collecting field data.? Water resources, modeling, and hydrology.
Construction specifications, principles, practices, and materials used.?
Engineering systems, machinery, and processes. Budget preparation, management, and procurement.
Management, supervision, training, and performance evaluation.? 
Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations Industry safety standards.
City human resources policies and procedures and union contracts. Code of Ethics for Professional Engineers and Surveyors

 
Skill to:
Skill to Operate appropriate computer equipment; use properly all related hardware and Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, ArcGIS, and analytic or scientific software. 
Operate assigned vehicle in the course of duty.
 
Ability to:
Plan future engineering programs and manage all phases of multiple projects.? 
Check construction plans, design calculations, or cost estimations to ensure completeness, accuracy, or conformity to engineering standards or practices.? 
Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.? 
Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.? Monitor/Assess performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.?
Identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.? 
Bring others together to reconcile differences, such as employees, contractors, utility companies, and other departments.? 
Manage one's own time and the time of others.
Implement and maintain positive employee relations.? 
Promote and maintain the highest integrity throughout all personnel. 
Analyze and manage effective EEO/AA programs.
 
Each applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.  In addition, each applicant must have eight years of experience demonstrating increasing responsibility as an engineer with successful management of projects for transportation, construction, or design projects.
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Possession of registration with the State of Ohio as a Professional Engineer.  If not registered in Ohio when appointed, Ohio registration must be obtained during the probationary period. Must have a valid Driver's License.
Must be an excellent communicator and team builder.
 
Environmental Conditions: Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to office computer screens; exposure to extremes in weather conditions; work with or in water, below ground, on ladders or scaffolds, on slippery or uneven surfaces, around moving objects/vehicles; exposure to construction project environments; some travel by automobile required.

Physical Conditions:  Duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing and walking for prolonged periods of time; light and moderate lifting and carrying; general manual dexterity required; audiovisual and linguistic acuity required; must be able to operate assigned vehicle.
 

Salary : $102,026 - $137,735
