What are the responsibilities and job description for the DIVISION MANAGER position at City of Cincinnati?
MSD’s Engineering Team has two divisions under the direction of the Deputy Director and Chief Engineer. One division manages the identification, vetting, and prioritization of capital improvement projects to meet MSD’s mission and long-term objectives. The second delivers the traditional design-bid-build projects within MSD’s approved Capital Improvement Program using industry best practices to enable our Operations Team to meet all permits, regulations, and orders in a safe and efficient manner. This posting is for the second position (Delivery Division Manager).
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Delivery Division Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of the delivery (planning, design, and construction) of all traditional (design-bid-build) utility infrastructure projects within MSD's capital improvement program. That portfolio includes over 140 active projects valued at over $1B. This person serves as the department’s expert in traditional project delivery and provides critical input and recommendations to the Chief Engineer in areas of project planning, design, and construction. As such, a professional engineering license in the State of Ohio, or the ability to get one within one year, is preferred. This person is expected to work independently, applying their experience and judgement to solve complex engineering challenges, and work collaboratively with the Chief Engineer, Capital Planning Division Manager, Assistant Superintendent for Engineering, other MSD senior staff, and consultant resources to ensure MSD’s success. The position directly supervises multiple senior technical and administrative personnel, providing direction and training as needed, and indirectly supervises a team of 40-50 employees. As such, they will be expected to model the highest levels of professional behavior, dress, and demeanor, and create a positive working environment for all employees.
