Referees Department: Parks & Recreation Employment Status: Non-Exempt;
Temporary/Seasonal Part-Time Salary: \$15.00, \$16.00 or \$18.00 per
hour dependent on age group Licenses/Certifications: n/a SUMMARY The
City of Chicopee\'s Department of Public Works - Recreation Division is
hiring Youth Soccer Referees for the upcoming season that starts August
2025. These referees will dedicate time to organizing, directing, and
supervising games as well as working with teams to aid in the facets
related to soccer regulations. This is an opportunity to dedicate some
time during the season to assist with the children and participants,
contribute and be a part of a positive cause, helping to promote fair
and fun experiences. ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE - Arrive on site 15
minutes before the scheduled game start time - Inspect players for
appropriate gear rubber cleats, shin guards, jewelry, and mouth guards
as required or restricted by division - Hold a pre-game meeting
mid-field with team captains to clarify any questions, boundary lines,
and determine starting sides - Monitor play for excessive roughness,
rule violations, fouls, and call fairly for both teams - Maintain a
positive and professional demeanor in all situations, setting the
example; it is a fun learning experience for all - Provide instruction
to players and coaches at lower divisions as seems appropriate -
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor in all situations
especially when others are becoming agitated. Address remarks to coaches
rather than fans. - Other responsibilities as required per the full job
Description. QUALIFICATIONS Experience Playing Soccer In Recreation
leagues, or trained as a physical education teacher, or in a related
area sufficiently to be knowledgeable of the rules of soccer at the
youth level. - Required Experience engaging children in play or
sports. - Required Minimum age requirement - at least 15 years of age
For Referees. - Required Experience In Education, Volunteering, And
working with youth. - Required Certified in First Aid, CPR, AED. -
Preferred Ability to meet and complete the City of Chicopee\'s
pre-employment requirements.
