ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Supervises the audits of Grants, contract vouchers, purchase orders, and other transaction documentation.
- Assists the Grants Director with grant applications, review of grants and contract content, and any status reporting needed for grant compliance rules and regulations.
- Maintains federal and state grants, compiling and reporting statistics as required. Prepares and maintains detailed accounting records related to grant funds, including tracking expenditures and monitoring grant budgets, and post grant goals-achievement reports as required by funding agencies.
- Supports Director by participating in grant research, preparation and reporting.
- Examines audit reports to ensure that they comply with City, Federal and state standards.
- Verifies and adjusts all audit documents to comply with City policies.
- Serves as mediator to reconcile differences in the Grants section.
- Conducts investigations and research to resolve problems faced by City departments.
- Provides technical assistance to City departments and agencies.
- Coordinates the timely distribution of financial reports pertaining to disbursements to all user sections within the department.
- Reviews program contracts, budget amendments, and revisions
- Examines documentation to verify that the validity of expenditures is in compliance with the budget.
- Approves reimbursement of costs that have verifiable documentation, and which conform to budget limits.
- Advises Grants Director regarding City auditing policies and standards.
- Additional duties may be required for this position.
Location: Chicago Department of Aviation - O'Hare Airport
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE
MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS: Three years of accounting or auditing experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
NOTE: The candidate selected for hire must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment (STA)
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires applicants to complete a skills assessment and an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Previous experience in a position involving a high volume of processing invoices.
- Previous experience in a position providing customer service.
- Proficiency in Excel and Oracle.
