Job Description
The purpose of the School Crossing Guard is to provide safety and security to schoolchildren arriving and departing schools. The employee is responsible for controlling traffic, directing children, and monitoring for any hazards. The employee works according to some procedures; decides how and when to do things under general supervision.
- Observes traffic conditions and controls flow of traffic to allow children to arrive and depart schools.
- Directs children, maintaining positive control over movement.
- Directs movement of vehicles such as school buses to maintain safe conditions.
- Instructs children in methods to cross streets and other safe behavior in and around traffic.
- Manages unruly children to prevent injury.
- Performs other safety or traffic related tasks as directed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
This position is required to work in numerous climates/inclement weather.
All uniforms and equipment are provided.
