As a Community Activator, you will play an important role in expanding our reach, supporting public programs, and strengthening Chattanooga’s outdoor community.
Position OverviewThe Community Activator is a stand alone classification that supports Outdoor Chattanooga through public engagement, program delivery, volunteer coordination, and administrative support. Work is performed with moderate supervision.
Primary ResponsibilitiesCommunity Outreach and Partnerships
Engage community partners to support existing and new initiatives
Represent the City at meetings, events, and committees
Serve as a liaison between the public, partners, sponsors, and volunteers
Volunteer Coordination and Program Support
Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor volunteers and interns
Assist in planning, preparing, coordinating, and facilitating outdoor programs, classes, and community events
Support risk management, site setup, supply procurement, and event monitoring
Program Operations and Administration
Register participants for programs and events and process applications and fees
Create and maintain program attendance records and reports
Reserve facilities, prepare rosters, and complete general clerical tasks
Contribute to marketing materials and support research, grant writing, and new outreach initiatives
Customer Service and Public Communication
Provide general reception and information services to the public
Respond to inquiries and concerns by phone, email, and in person
