Seasonal Golf Course Laborer II

Job Summary

Under general supervision, this position will perform daily maintenance functions for the golf course grounds, including the 18-hole Chaska Town Course, practice facility, as well as the maintenance buildings and grounds surrounding the clubhouse and entrance road to the course and occasionally Par 30 nine-hole course.

Responsibilities

• Operates triplex greens mower and walk behind greens mowers, push mowers, weed whips.
• Operates utility vehicles, mechanical bunker rake, and other motorized golf course equipment.
• Uses small electric and battery powered hand tools.
• Performs general maintenance on the equipment.
• Available for weekend duty throughout summer months
• Loads and unloads materials and miscellaneous supplies.
• Clean and performs general maintenance of facilities.
• Services tees, rakes bunkers, lays sod, shovels topsoil, topdressing and bunker sand.
• Supervises other staff on special projects.
• Performs all other related work as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum 18 years of age

Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must obtain a valid MN Driver’s License
• Ability and experience with light equipment
• Available to assist other areas of the department in emergency situations or on an as needed basis
• Ability to work effectively with little direction and supervision
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to communicate and work effectively and professionally with co-workers and the public
• Ability to bend, lift and perform strenuous exercise

• Operate a variety of light equipment and including:
  • Workman’s and utility carts
  • Lawn maintenance equipment

• Significant attention to safety standards, procedures, and practices
• Professional and appropriate responsiveness when interacting with the public
• Proper and safe operation of equipment and tools
• Varying and some prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, observing, climbing, balancing, and lifting, carrying and moving objects 60 lbs.
• Driving equipment to and from work sites
• Working outside in all seasons with varying levels of exposure to wind, rain, snow, ice, sun
• Working in a busy golf course setting
