Position Title: Constituent Services Intern
Department: Mayor - Constituent Services
Location: The person hired for this position will work primarily in the office (501 Virginia Street, East), but may also work in the field, and at off-site locations, depending on project needs and assignments.
Number of open positions: 1 Anticipated Start Date: 6/8/26 End Date: 7/31/26
Hours of work per week: Up to 35 hours per week
Business/Work Hours: The general work hours/schedule for this position may be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition, this position may also work other hours, including nights, weekends and/or holidays as may be necessary, required, or requested.
Pay Rate: $13.00/hour
General Description:
The Constituent Services Intern is a position within the Mayor's Summer Youth Jobs Program which provides local youth, ages 16-20, valuable work experience within our City Departments and encourages civic engagement. This Intern will work closely with the Constituent Services Team within the Mayor's Office to support resident engagement efforts, front-desk operations, special projects, and related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities, tasks, and projects:
The Constituent Services Intern will be responsible for providing support to the Constituent Services Team within the Mayor's Office. Responsibilities may include:
- Greeting residents and visitors to City Hall and assisting with general inquiries
- Answering and routing phone calls in a professional and courteous manner
- Assisting with incoming and outgoing mail
- Supporting the tracking and follow-up of constituent requests
- Assisting with data entry and maintaining records within the City's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
- Updating and organizing internal knowledge base materials and FAQs
- Providing administrative support for special projects as assigned
- Supporting City events and community meetings where resident engagement is a priority
- Assisting with on-site logistics during events to ensure a welcoming and organized experience for attendees
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse members of the public
- Ability to remain courteous, patient, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Comfort using computers and basic office technology
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (with emphasis on Word, SharePoint, and Forms) and Google Workspace
- Ability to learn new software systems, including CRM platforms
Additional Qualifications:
- Must have the ability to provide documentation verifying legal work status.
- Ability to read and speak the English language proficiently in order to communicate and interact with others; to understand and interpret safety instructions; and to respond to internal and external inquiries.
- Ability to understand and comply with City and departmental guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations.
