Job Summary
Provides assistance in the Library department during daily operations; Duties include shelving returned library materials, ensuring that shelved materials are maintained properly, and assisting library patrons in their use of the facility.
Essential Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent, plus relatable experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge of: Municipal library operations; library technology systems; and the Dewey Decimal System.
Skill/Ability to: organize and maintain a large number of materials; attention to detail; understand and follow instructions; demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication; operate standard office equipment such as copiers, a multi-line phone system standard computer software; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.

Job Summary
Provides assistance in the Library department during daily operations; Duties include shelving returned library materials, ensuring that shelved materials are maintained properly, and assisting library patrons in their use of the facility.
Essential Responsibilities
- Sorts returned library materials and returns the materials to the proper shelf location;
- Scans the shelves to ensure that all materials, including books, DVDs and CDs, are in the proper place;
- Assists in circulation when needed (inventory of returned items);
- Assists patrons with any questions they may have;
- Marks materials as "used" when appropriate;
- Performs general security and housekeeping duties necessary for opening and closing the Library facility;
- Straightens and cleans shelves and reading areas and moves materials to new locations as needed;
- Offers suggestions for where items should be housed in the library by serving on shelving-specific committees;
- Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions, as required;
- Prepares, timesheets, and correspondence;
- Peruses shelves looking for damaged materials;
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
