POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Non-exempt hourly
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment and performing street maintenance and repair duties in support of department operations.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Operates heavy equipment and vehicles use in the repair and maintenance of city streets.
- Transports equipment and tools to and from work sites.
- Maintains and repairs equipment and tools and streets.
- Assists concrete crew as needed; builds forms, removes, replaces and finishes concrete according to construction standards.
- Assists with seasonal snow, ice, and leaf removal.
- Assists in excavating materials from job sites.
- Repairs concrete and asphalt streets as required.
- Responds to emergency call out situations as required.
- Assists with traffic control duties.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Knowledge of front-end loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, and other types of heavy and light equipment used in the repair and maintenance of streets.
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and procedures used in the maintenance and repair of streets.
- Skill in the operation of backhoes, dump trucks, and other related heavy and light equipment used in the repair and maintenance of streets.
- Skill in the operation of street maintenance tools and equipment.
- Skill in the use of chainsaws, weed eaters, and other power tools.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduation or equivalency and two (2) years experience and a demonstrated proficiency in various types of construction activities.
- Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements and possess and maintain a valid Class “B” or better CDL with air brake endorsement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preference will be given to candidates that have experience and a demonstrated proficiency in heavy equipment operations on construction site.
Salary per hour $20.10, plus a generous benefit package.
- Bi-weekly pay periods.
- Thirteen paid holidays per year.
- 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
- 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.
- 2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.
- City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
- City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).

- Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $29.14 hourly.
