Position Details

As a Fleet Superintendent, you will oversee the asset management, operations, maintenance, repair, and replacement of all city-owned vehicles and equipment. You will lead a dedicated team of employees who support the care and upkeep of our fleet. This exempt position offers a starting salary of $117,083.20 annually, depending on qualifications. The position will remain open until filled, with the first review of applications scheduled for April 30. Learn more about the Fleet Superintendent position here.

The Fleet Superintendent values people and perspectives by:

  • Fostering a customer service-oriented approach to the maintenance, repair, and replacement of equipment and vehicles.
  • Coordinating procurement, maintenance, and repair activities across departments and with external vendors.

  • Stay informed on new equipment and features based on organizational needs and manage the disposal of replaced equipment.
  • Analyze asset management data alongside system trends to advise departments on equipment needs, replacement schedules, costs, and labor charges.

  • Overseeing the fleet asset management system to track labor, parts, materials, and maintenance work, ensuring accurate chargebacks to appropriate departments.
  • Aligning the capital replacement budget with asset management data and known information about vehicles and equipment.

What you'll bring to help you be successful

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two-year post-secondary mechanic certification in Diesel/Heavy Equipment or Automotive/Light Equipment Mechanics
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in fleet maintenance as a mechanic
  • Three years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement, or the ability to obtain one within 9 months
  • Local government experience preferred
