The Burlington Public Library is accepting applications for a part-time Circulation Aide. Tasks would include checking in and out materials, registering patrons, and collecting fines.
Burlington Public Library is located in southeastern Wisconsin, with a municipal population of 11,000 and a service population of 19,500. We are a member of the SHARE Library Consortium, serving Racine, Walworth, Kenosha, and Rock Counties.
Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED required; computer and technology experience required; customer service experience required; experience in libraries desired.
Compensation: Starting wage is $13.47 per hour.
Hours: This position works an average of 10-16 hours per week, including regular evening and weekend hours with some flexibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs circulation desk procedures, such as checking in and checking out materials, registering patrons, and collecting fines.
- Processes selected library materials, including periodicals, for circulation.
- Assists patrons with scanning, faxing, and copying.
- Sorts and routes daily mail.
- Answers and routes incoming phone calls.
- Assists with directional questions and holds, and refers patrons to other personnel as needed.
- Assists patrons with mechanical operations of library equipment.
- Provides guidance for shelvers and volunteers as needed.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- One year of paid or volunteer library experience, or minimum of one year of public facing customer service work.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to keep accurate records and accurately follow procedures.
- Ability to understand library polices and procedures and apply them to library operations.
- Ability to communicate positively and effectively with the staff and the public.
- Computer experience is essential.
- Willingness to maintain skills in above areas through active participation in continuing education.
- Excellent level of English oral and written skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Flexibility with hours; regular evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
