Part-Time Summer Camp Assistant Director

About us:
Recreation & Parks operates many state-of-the-art facilities to citizens throughout the City of Burlington.
What you will do:
The Assistant Director role involves organizing fun and structured activities for children, ensuring their safety, and supporting counselors with housekeeping duties. Key responsibilities include communicating with parents, collaborating with Youth Program Supervisors, and providing strong leadership to staff and participants. Safety is a top priority, and the position may extend to year-round afterschool care.Activity Planning & Implementation:

• Collaborate with the Director to design, plan, and implement engaging camp activities.
• Ensure activities are carried out within the established guidelines, prioritizing safety and fun.

Supervision & Support:

• Provide supervision, instruction, and ongoing assistance to both program staff and campers.
• Maintain positive, supportive relationships with staff, campers, and families.

Communication & Coordination:

• Maintain open and clear communication with Youth Program Supervisors to ensure program success.
• Effectively interact with staff, participants, families, and external agencies.

Facility & Equipment Maintenance:

• Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the camp site and equipment.
• Assist with daily housekeeping to ensure a safe and tidy environment.

Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to the City’s safety policies, prioritizing the well-being of all participants.
• Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications to handle emergency situations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Proof of or ability to complete First Aid and CPR/AED certification. 
• Proof of or ability to complete USDA Summer Food Service Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience with children. 
• Teacher certification.
