Recreation & Parks operates a variety of state-of-the-art facilities across the City of Burlington, including the year-round Maynard Aquatic Center, which offers swimming activities and programs. Additionally, the Burlington Splash Park and North Park Pool provide seasonal fun and aquatic recreation during the warmer months.

This is a part-time position with scheduled hours not to exceed 1,000 a year. This is a seasonal position through the months of May to September.

- Public Interaction & Customer Service: Answer telephone calls, engage with the public, and provide routine information regarding departmental policies, procedures, and services.
- Inventory & Material Management: Distribute tools, equipment, and supplies, while also ensuring proper collection and accounting for material usage.
- Office Operations & Technology Use: Operate office registers and computers, utilizing Microsoft products for daily tasks and communication.
- Administrative Support: Maintain office supplies for the department and assist with clerical tasks as necessary, including back-up support for other staff members.
- Facility Operations: Take responsibility for opening and closing duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as directed or assigned by the supervisor, ensuring smooth department operations.
- General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment, and clerical techniques.
- Proficient in business English, spelling, and arithmetic, ensuring clear and accurate communication.
- Ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed.
- Capable of making simple arithmetic calculations and filing documents alphabetically for efficient record-keeping.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
- Excellent listening and comprehension skills to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and course work in typing and secretarial subjects and some clerical and typing experience or any combination of education and experience.
