What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Director of Public Works position at City of Burleson, TX?
The Deputy Director will be responsible for managing operational activities and regulatory compliance of the Water and Wastewater Division including a staff of 25. The Deputy Director will also have oversight of additional divisions of the department to be determined in the selection process based on the applicant pool.
PRIMARY DUTY:
This position's primary responsibilities include to lead and manage aspects of the assigned operational divisions and functional areas within the department. This includes budgeting, short and long-range planning, directing staff, operations, programs, and activities that align with city and department goals and objectives. Provides technical and professional assistance to internal and external parties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government with preference given to public works experience.
- Two (2) years of supervisory responsibility.
- Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver License with a good driving record that is maintained continuously while employed.
