STATEMENT OF THE JOB 
Provides a variety of public assistance in responding to inquiries and answering questions related to planning and land use issues, applications, and permits.
Performs a variety of technical and professional planning, zoning, and land use activities. Assists in preparing and presenting staff reports for City boards and commissions involved in planning and land use issues. Interprets and applies Municipal planning ordinances.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE/ LICENSING & TRAINING

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 
Graduation from high school or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or a related field from an accredited college; OR Minimum three (3) years working in a municipal setting in Planning divisions; OR any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. *Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or previous experience as a Planner preferred.

LICENSING & TRAINING:
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • National   Incident   Management   System   (NIMS)   training   based    on assignment

  • Serves as the liaison between the Planning and Zoning Division and the public and provides technical support for a variety of City land use entities.
  • Assists the public with questions regarding proper procedures, forms, permits, plans, and fees associated with permits, subdivisions, and zoning regulations.
  • Interprets and applies general plan policies, zoning ordinances, and Municipal Code requirements to a variety of land use issues.
  • Reviews industrial, commercial, residential and sign permits for zoning and ordinance compliance.
  • Conducts a variety of research and data collection for land use development, zoning history, and compliance with City land use ordinances and policies.
  • Gathers and organizes a variety of information, preparing sta? reports for City boards and commissions concerned with planning and land use issues.
  • Develops and makes written and oral presentations of ?ndings and recommendations.
  • Processes site plan approvals, subdivision proposals, conditional use permits, variance requests, and permits.
  • On occasion, evening or weekend hours may be required for attendance at Board & Commission meetings or special City-related functions.
  • Represents the City of Bullhead City in both action and words, demonstrating strong ethics, both professionally and personally, in order to maintain the highest standard of integrity.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Performs other duties as required or as necessary in case of an emergency.
  • Performs related work as required or directed.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Applicable Federal, State and local codes and regulations
  • The principles, practices and ethics of municipal planning
  • Methods of community involvement and the public hearing process.
  • GIS (Geographic Information Systems) 
 SKILL IN:
  • Evaluating the feasibility of plans in relation to economic, social and environmental costs and trends
  • Analyzing and systematically compiling technical and statistical information and preparing technical reports
ABILITY TO:
  • Communicate orally in person and using the telephone
  • Instruct others
  • Draw or letter charts, schedules, graphs, maps or similar objects
  • Comprehend and make inferences from written material
  • Operate a variety of o?ce equipment
  • Learn job-related material both on the job and in a classroom setting
  • Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar
  • Enter data or information into a computer
  • Establish and maintain e?ective working relationships with other city departments, the business community, and other government agencies
  • Communicate e?ectively orally and in writing.
