The Senior Transportation Driver is responsible for providing courtesy shuttle service for Buda older adults. The Driver operates the City’s 15 passenger van to transport older adults to and from medical facilities, grocery store, senior center, and special appointments. Additionally, the incumbent performs other miscellaneous tasks as requested by supervisor.
High School Diploma or GED; and one (1) year van, bus or transportation vehicle driving and senior adult population experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background.
Valid State of Texas class “C” CDL Drivers License preferred.
Special Qualifications
May require use of CPR equipment.
The work is typically light to medium and may require exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Tasks may require the following physical abilities: crouching, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, speaking, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
The employee may be subject to exposure to air- and water-borne pathogens, body fluids, and infectious diseases when administering CPR or First Aid, or when cleaning vehicles and facilities. Work may also involve exposure to extreme weather conditions and hazardous driving situations while transporting passengers or performing related duties.

- Provides shuttle service for Buda older adults.
- Operates the City van to pick up and deliver supplies.
- Assists passengers, ensuring safety, as they board and disembark the van.
- Performs preventative maintenance by checking and refilling all fluid and fuel levels.
- Maintains and updates ridership documents, rosters, addresses as needed.
- Cleans and maintains the van in safe operating condition.
- Provides monthly report of passengers, mileage, gasoline, and toll tag usage.
- Assist with daily errands such as mail pickup and other duties as assigned.
- Follows all traffic and safety rules and regulations of the state and city.
- Reports any accident to supervisor immediately and provides a written incident report.
- May provide transportation for other City Departments as needed.
- Reports necessary maintenance and repair needs to supervisor immediately
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
- May provide reception area coverage as needed.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
